Celebrating with Sierra Nevada beer including our new Oktoberfest Collaboration, German-inspired food, musical performances, Chicken Dance contest, Flash Your ‘Stache competition, and more!

  1. BEER: Oh what delicious brews to have! Featuring Sierra Nevada’s third Oktoberfest collaboration festival beer. This year we worked with Germany’s Brauhaus Miltenberger, whose approach to the classic style we’ve long admired. The result is a festival beer true to style – deep golden in color with deceptively rich malt flavor and balanced by traditional German-grown whole-cone hops. We’ll make sure there’s plenty of other beer styles to try as well.
  2. FOOD: Keeping with tradition, a contemporary German feast will be provided by the Sierra Nevada Taproom. The feast will be available from 5-8pm, and is included with your ticket price. What’s more, Bavarian style pretzels with Sierra Nevada mustards and German chocolate cupcakes with coconut-pecan filling are available until 10pm in exchange for a beer/pretzel ticket.
    • MENU
SAUSAGE AND KRAUT – Nooner poached bratwurst, sauerkraut
SAUERBRATEN & RED CABBAGE – Brasstown beef roast, Porter braised cabbage
WOOD ROASTED PIG – Slow roasted Heritage Farms pork, Oktoberfest wholegrain mustard sauce
GERMAN POTATO SALAD – Mustard vinaigrette, celery, green onions and dill
BRUSSELS SPROUTS – Roasted brussels sprouts, cranberries
HARVEST SALAD – Organic baby lettuces, shaved fennel, roasted butternut squash, sunflower seeds and smoked tomato vinaigrette
  3. MUSIC:
    • Minor Mishap Marching Band – Fun, loud, and in the street! Minor Mishap Marching Band is a renegade circus-punk brass band — Bourbon Street meets Budapest. We are inspired by a love of street music, brass bands and spectacle, as well as a desire to create community and reinvent public spaces.
    • Sirius.B – Sirius.B’s music is created with an eclectic mix of vocal harmonies and instruments including cello, accordion, violin, marching band and African percussion, charango, flamenco and acoustic guitar, banjo, and melodica. Sirius.B brings to you the finest Absurdist Gypsy Folk Funk Punk that the world has to offer. Their “impressively irreverent, combustible, three-ring circus of sound [and] high-energy style is difficult to neatly categorize. They play foreign music as well as upbeat and serious originals, with a lyrical style ranging from the quirky to the absurd.” -Mountain Xpress
    • Mountain Top Polka Band – In 2009, an Oktoberfest “Oompah Band” was formed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School in West Asheville, North Carolina. Band members dress in traditional German attire and take control of the audience by teaching polka dance, the traditional “Chicken Dance,” and other crowd favorites guaranteed to get your feet moving. The band base continues to grow and throughout the years has included accordions, singers, baritones, tubas, harpsichord, clarinets, trumpets, Alpine Horns, cowbells, drummers, guitars, bells, and so much more.
  4. LIVE GLASS BLOWING DEMONSTRATIONS: Hot Glass Academy and Asheville Area Arts Council are back at it with a mobile glassblowing studio at the festival for live demonstrations from local artists. Enjoy glassblowers creating works of art while you watch! Select items will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Asheville Area Arts Council!
