Great beer and incredible food with a Southern craft focus.

Western North Carolina is known for its love of food and passion for great craft beer. At our Mills River Taproom and Restaurant you’ll find an abundance of both. Visit the Taproom to sample one of our 23 beers on tap, many produced just a few feet from the restaurant. Beers are accompanied by artful, chef-driven food focused on small plate, sharable, whole animal and farm-to-table dishes sourced mainly from local suppliers. We are a first come, first serve restaurant. Please feel free to stop by the host stand to put your name on the list, or grab a beer and head outside to our Back Porch and Beer Garden to take in the views of the beautiful forest or stroll through our Mills River Estate Garden. We use the homegrown vegetables and herbs for our restaurant and small-scale pilot brewery.

Petite Fumee

The name translates to “Little Smoke” and that’s just what this beer delivers. Brewed in the rustic Bière de Garde style native to Wallonia (the French-speaking portion of Belgium) this beer has just a hint of smoke flavor (think toasted marshmallows rather than camp-fire) and a unique citrusy hop flavor which complements the spicy flavors of the traditional Belgian-style yeast.

Tropical Torpedo

Inspired by the island life, we created an IPA completely disconnected from the mainland. We used our one-of-a-kind Hop Torpedo to deliver an intense rush of hop flavor and the lush aromas of mango, papaya, and passionfruit with every sip. Enjoy our tropical twist on the American IPA.

Christmas Jam Session Ale

From the opening chord to the final encore, this hop-heavy beer is the perfect match for an all-night party. Brewed for Asheville’s one-of-a-kind musical marvel, the annual Christmas Jam, this session ale features bright hop flavors of citrus and stone fruit with just a hint of piney hop character— all in a well-balanced and easy-going package, just right for jam-worthy drinkability. Cheers! Brewed with our friends from Asheville Brewing Company.

Harvest Wet Hop IPA - Northern Hemisphere Harvest

Northern Hemisphere features wet hops—picked from the field and into the brewhouse within 24 hours. This complex IPA boasts intense herbal and green hop aromas as well as rose-like and citrus flavor from the use of wet Cascade and Centennial hops.

German IPA

This Teutonic take on the traditional IPA features spicy German-grown hops and an expressive Kölsch yeast. The result is a golden beer with a moderate bitterness and an intensely fruity aroma reminiscent of raspberry and lemon peel. Prost!

Stout

Big, rich, bold, black-as-night, and filled with the wild-eyed passion of which dreams are made. Rich with malt flavors of chocolate and roasty mocha-like espresso notes.
