Known as one of the premier venues in the North State, the Big Room at Sierra Nevada is an upscale live music and event space located at the brewery in Chico, California.  Sierra Nevada presents many different types of shows, including our Heritage Series – dinner-theater-style concerts rich in the traditions of Americana and bluegrass, offered in an intimate setting.  Sierra Nevada will also present rock, alternative, independent and R&B music and much more!

Across the Atchafalaya Basin — away from the jazz, blues, brass bands, second line processions, and parades of New Orleans — there exists along the bayous, crawfish ponds, and rice fields of the prairie lands of Southwest Louisiana, a uniquely Louisianan cultural area with its own music and dance traditions — that of the French-speaking Louisiana Creole people. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Ethel and Delton Broussard, Jeffery is the youngest of eleven children (with five brothers and five sisters). The family lived in Frilot Cove, Louisiana, a rural community northwest of Opelousas, on a farm where his father was a sharecropper. As is the case with many Zydeco musicians, Jeffery’s career started very early in life (at the age of 8) playing drums in his father’s band, the renowned Delton Broussard & The Lawtell Playboys. It’s quite possible that without the struggle and hard times he experienced in life, Jeffery could not sing and play with the emotion and the soul he expresses. His range, seldom seen in Zydeco, includes traditional songs of the old masters, original tunes, single-note and triple-note accordion, and fiddle. Jeffery Broussard is one of the genre’s most dynamic performers.

Single, Fresh, Wet & Wild Hop Harvest Festival returns for its fourth showcase of the best hop-forward brews of the season.

On October 20, 2018, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and the California Craft Brewers Association are hosting the biennial Single, Fresh, Wet & Wild Hop Harvest Festival, a celebration of our passion for these lupulin laden beauties, and the adventurous brewers who explore the boundaries of their explosive flavors. During the season when hops are luscious and dewy, and the time from field to kettle is a matter of life or death, we’ve invited the best breweries from across the U.S. (and beyond) to pour their coveted hop-centric creations.

The Steel Wheels

Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, The Steel Wheels are familiar with the traditions of folk music and how a string band is supposed to sound. In fact, they’ve been drawing on those steadfast traditions for more than a decade. Yet, their name also evokes a sense of forward motion, which is clearly reflected in their latest album, Wild As We Came Here.

The Steel Wheels recorded their album in rural Maine, where producer Sam Kassirer (Lake Street Dive, Josh Ritter) owns a recording studio inside a renovated farmhouse from the 18th century. All four band members – Trent Wagler (guitar, banjo), Eric Brubaker (fiddle), Brian Dickel (upright bass) and Jay Lapp (mandolin) – hunkered down for a week and a half to create Wild As We Came Here.

The band’s name is a tip of the hat to steam-powered trains, industrial progress and the buggies of their Mennonite lineage. Their musical style weaves through Americana and bluegrass, folk and old-time music, and the acoustic poetry of the finest singer-songwriters. By incorporating percussion and keyboards into their recording sessions for the first time, Wild As We Came Here adds new textures to their catalog, as themes of discovery and perseverance run throughout the collection.
