Great beer and incredible food with a Southern craft focus.

Western North Carolina is known for its love of food and passion for great craft beer. At our Mills River Taproom and Restaurant you’ll find an abundance of both. Visit the Taproom to sample one of our 23 beers on tap, many produced just a few feet from the restaurant. Beers are accompanied by artful, chef-driven food focused on small plate, sharable, whole animal and farm-to-table dishes sourced mainly from local suppliers. While you’re here, grab a beer and head outside to our Back Porch and Beer Garden to take in the views of the beautiful forest or stroll through our Mills River Estate Garden. We use the homegrown vegetables and herbs for our restaurant and small-scale pilot brewery.

Know Good IPA

You think you know good IPA? We do too, and this one’s it. This is a straightforward, full-throttle, American IPA—nothing fancy here; just hop flavor and lots of it. Its hazy blonde malt body has just enough heft to carry the citrus and floral hop notes straight to your palate making Know Good perfect for today, or any day. When it comes to IPA, we know what good is.

Tropical Torpedo

Inspired by the island life, we created an IPA completely disconnected from the mainland. We used our one-of-a-kind Hop Torpedo to deliver an intense rush of hop flavor and the lush aromas of mango, papaya, and passionfruit with every sip. Enjoy our tropical twist on the American IPA.

Audition Saison

Saisons may be one of the world’s most perfect beer styles. They blend crisp drinkability, with a deep complexity, so that with every sip, we’re able to discover a new layer of flavor. This light colored saison has notes of straw and grain with a hint of lemon, and a spicy dry finish from the use of a traditional farmhouse yeast.

Mai-nd Bockling

Mai-nd Bockling Beer is our take on the Maibock—a copper colored and robust German-style beer. Though it is lighter in color than a traditional bock, this beer has an uncommon depth of malt flavor, yet remains crisp and extremely drinkable.

Sidecar Orange Pale Ale

This beer has a pop of bright orange flavor that emphasizes the natural citrus-heavy character of Cascade, Equinox and Mandarina hops. Brewed with orange peel added directly to the kettle, and all the classic hop flavor you'd come to expect from our all-new take on the hop-forward fruit beer.

Audition Double IPA

Our Audition series is a place for us to try new recipes and experiment with new beers. This big IPA is brewed with Crystal, Citra, Centennial, Mosaic and Chinook hops for intense fruit-forward hop flavors of citrus, apricot and mango with a hint of malt sweetness in the finish.
