Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. takes its name from the nearby mountains. This wild and beautiful setting inspires our world-class beers, and underscores our need to keep our environment healthy, clean, and vibrant.
Through on-site energy production, recycling, improved transportation methods, water recovery, and efficient use of resources, we work hard to maintain a delicate footprint.
Throughout 2009, we were able to produce most of our total electricity needs on-site. Our solar installation is one of the largest private arrays in the US, with over 10,000 individual panels, and produces 1.9 megawatts of DC power. These panels, combined with our four co-generation fuel cells, was enough to produce over 80% of our power needs, and more than 100% during peak summer hours.
We’re doing our part to minimize our impact on the environment and to lessen our dependence on the power grid. We invite you to do the same with solar panels of your own!

We’ve partnered with SunPower to offer savings on home solar installation. Please look into sunpowercorp.com/unplug for exclusive savings on solar of your own.

In addition to offering an opportunity for you to power your own world, Sierra Nevada will donate $10,000 to the American Solar Energy Society based in Boulder, Colorado. The nonprofit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is the nation’s leading association of solar professionals and advocates on the front lines of energy innovation.
